Soccer FAQ
Q: What is the deadline for signups?
A: The deadline is July 31st.
Q: What happens if I sign up after the deadline?
A: The player may be placed on the waitlist, with no guarantee of being placed on a team unless there are spots available.
Q: What are the age divisions?
A: The age divisions are as follows: Age on Dec 31 of current year

Limits: No one younger than 6 years of age as of September 30th and or older than 16 years of age of the current year.
All players must participate in the appropriate age group, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Q: When does practice start?
A: Practices starts in August. This may be later depending on the coaches availability.
Q: What should the player bring to practice or games?
A: Players must show up to practices and games with required equipment: soccer ball, shin guards and, cleats or appropriate footwear.
Q: What size soccer ball does my child need:
U8: Size 3
U10 - U12: Size 4
U14: Size 5
Q: When will I hear from the coach?
A: After the teams are formed in August. The coach will contact the parents of players with their practice schedule.
Q: Where is practice?
A: Practice location depends on the coach and field availability. Coaches pick their preferred field if available.
Q: How many practices are there and what time?
A: Generally practice is only 1 or 2 times per week, which day and the time is determined by the coach. For younger players, practice is around 45 minutes, for older players up to 1.5 hours.
Q: When do the games start, how many and how long does the season last?
A: Games start mid way through September. Each schedule typically has 8-10 games over 8 weeks. If games are postponed due to weather, these will be made up if there is field availability.
Q: How many games are there per week?
A: Usually there are 1-2 games per week.
Q: How do I get a game schedule?
A: The coach is responsible for furnishing schedules to players and parents.
Q: What if it is raining during practice?
A: Your coach is responsible for contacting players and canceling practice due to inclement weather.
GAMES: The weather hotline for game cancellations depends on WHAT FIELD you are playing at, not for the recreational dept. schedule you play under. Since GSA plays under 3 different rec. dept schedules, please call the number that oversees the FIELD that you are playing at.
